Cassia, a nonprofit, senior living organization,   is hiring a  WordPress Web Developer   to join our growing team Based at our  Edina, MN  home office, you will enjoy a welcoming environment with supportive leadership and a friendly team. The WordPress Web Developer will be a key member of Cassia’s in-house marketing team, responsible for building, maintaining, and optimizing our WordPress websites to support brand awareness, lead generation, and stakeholder engagement.

This role blends hands-on web development with an eye for design, UX, and performance. The ideal candidate is comfortable translating marketing goals into user-friendly web experiences and collaborating closely with designers, content creators, and leadership. Please submit 3-5 WordPress sites or projects that you have worked on, highlighting your role in development, design, optimizations, etc.

Position Type: Full-Time, hybrid, benefits eligible position

Wage Range : $70,000 - $80,000 Annually depending on experience

Web Developer Responsibilities:
Website Development & Maintenance
  • Build, update, and maintain Cassia websites and landing pages using WordPress (including themes, child themes, and plugins).
  • Implement responsive, mobile-first designs that function smoothly across modern browsers and devices.
  • Create custom page templates, blocks, or components as needed to support marketing campaigns and content strategies.
  • Ensure websites are secure, backed up, and functioning properly by managing core, theme, and plugin updates.
UX, Design, and Content Implementation
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to translate wireframes, mockups, and content plans into high-quality web pages.
  • Ensure brand consistency in typography, color, imagery, and layout across all sites.
  • Improve site structure, navigation, and internal linking to make content easy to find and understand.
  • Support content publishing, including formatting blog posts, updating copy, and adding multimedia elements.
Performance, SEO, and Analytics
  • Optimize site speed and performance (e.g., caching, image optimization, code clean-up, hosting configurations).
  • Implement on-page SEO best practices in collaboration with the marketing team (meta tags, schema markup, headings, alt text, internal links, URL structure).
  • Set up and maintain analytics and tracking (e.g., Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager, conversion tracking).
  • Monitor site performance, user behavior, and key metrics to identify improvement opportunities and report insights to stakeholders.
Technical Support & Quality Assurance
  • Troubleshoot and resolve website issues, bugs, and errors in a timely manner.
  • Conduct regular QA checks prior to major launches and after updates (forms, links, pages, responsive views, accessibility).
  • Coordinate with hosting providers or IT resources on server, SSL, and domain-related issues as needed.
Collaboration & Process
  • Work closely with marketing, design, and content teammates to support campaigns, events, and ongoing initiatives.
  • Provide web development input during campaign planning, recommending best technical approaches.
  • Help document processes, standards, and best practices for web updates and content publishing.
Web Developer Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of professional experience developing and maintaining WordPress websites.
  • Strong proficiency with WordPress (custom themes, child themes, and plugins).
  • Solid understanding of HTML5, CSS3, and basic JavaScript/jQuery.
  • Experience with modern page builders and/or block-based editing (e.g., Gutenberg).
  • Experience working with multisite WordPress environments.
  • Familiarity with PHP and ability to make light-to-moderate back-end customizations.
  • Experience with responsive design, cross-browser compatibility, and mobile-first development.
  • Working knowledge of SEO best practices and tools (e.g., Yoast).
  • Experience integrating analytics and tracking (Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager, basic event/goal setup).
  • Comfortable working with version control and staging environments.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to translate non-technical requirements into technical solutions.
  • Clear, proactive communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills; able to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Experience working on marketing or communications teams (in-house or agency) preferred.
  • Background in nonprofit, healthcare, senior living, or mission-driven organizations preferred.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and how to implement them in WordPress preferred.
  • Experience with marketing automation or CRM integrations (e.g., HubSpot) preferred.
  • Basic design skills and familiarity with tools like Figma or Adobe XD preferred.
