Working supervisor of contractor personnel, is also responsible for assisting with the purchasing of parts and services required to maintain fleet, MHE, and warehouse equipment; coordinating the establishment of work priorities and setting repair schedules; maintaining a preventative maintenance program for vehicles and warehouse material handling equipment; providing technical assistance on complex repair problems; and preparing written estimates of repairs and costs.
Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities
The contractor shall coordinate maintenance activities, provide technical direction and supervision to developmental and full performance contractor Warehouse Mechanics including but not limited to the following:
Provide technical advice and assistance to developmental and full performance mechanics and others on either new or difficult and complex jobs.
Conduct repairs and/or provides consultative services for the Sponsor to source vendor repair locations CONUS, order replacement trucks, recommend vehicle specifications to meet the sponsor's needs, and recommend parts and equipment to ensure they are safe and dependable.
Warehouse Mechanic may be required to travel within a 2-hour radius to conduct repairs, visit vendors for consultative services, conducts periodic vehicle inspections at the vendor's facility throughout the vehicle build processor, and to provide vehicle transportation to and from vendor locations for service.
Interacts with customers to keep them informed of status of vehicles, repairs needed, etc. Based on assignment, independently performs corrective maintenance and repairs to fleet, training, emergency or heavy equipment vehicles.
Inspects, diagnoses and isolates vehicle and equipment malfunctions; troubleshoots, traces and locates defects and/or causes of mechanical problems to determine type and extent of necessary repairs.
Utilize on-board computer diagnostic systems and other test equipment in order to test automotive computer control and emission systems; assesses and analyzes malfunctions of machinery using microcomputers, calipers, gauges, and other equipment.
Professionally interact with government point(s) of contact (GPOC) and customers to keep them informed of status of vehicles and repairs needed.
Perform preventative maintenance and repairs to fleet, emergency, training or heavy equipment vehicles.
Serves as a non-voting member on the Accident Review Council to provide SME expertise.
Safely and properly operate wheel balancing equipment, and turning and grinding equipment for servicing brake drums and discs, and rotor assemblies.
Perform engine tune-ups, setting engine timing according to specifications.
Transport vehicles to approved facilities to obtain State vehicle safety and emission inspections on Sponsor owned vehicles.
Based on assignment, performs administrative and other functions as related to wheeled vehicle and equipment maintenance.
Perform warehouse maintenance on various equipment including, but not limited to: door/gate repairs, rack installations and repairs, fabrication of parts (i.e., machining, welding, and repair of warehouse equipment), fabrication/welding of parts, minor electrical/plumbing, cage/fencing repairs, custom Sponsor specific in-house projects.
Perform Material Handling Equipment maintenance including, but not limited to: service and repair warehouse packing equipment (i.e., table saws, radial saws, conveyor systems, banders, stitchers, dust collectors, nailers, air compressors, air lines, box making machine), and maintenance to vertical storage machines, shredders, lift and dump equipment.
Identify necessary parts, equipment and supplies needed to complete repair or preventative check.
Responds to emergency road calls for disabled Sponsor vehicles and makes minor adjustments or has the vehicle towed for back to the Sponsors location for repairs.
Requires a Class A Commercial Driver's License (with "P" endorsement).
Road test vehicles as needed to verify maintenance/repair work.
Promptly respond to emails and telephone calls.
Ensure the necessary provision of vehicles and support for customers.
Perform other related duties as required or as directed by government staff management.
Maintain a highly organized, clean, and efficient maintenance shop on a Sponsor facility.
Comply with all OSHA regulations regarding waste disposal as well as adherence to shop standard operating procedures.
Make recommendations to government staff management regarding shop standard operating procedures and implement when approved.
Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment
The work is usually performed inside on concrete surfaces where there is exposure to drafts, noise, and fumes from vehicles. Warehouse Mechanic - Senior occasionally perform work outside under adverse weather conditions. They are continually exposed to dirt, dust, and grease, and to the potential for burns, chemical irritations, shocks, bruises, cuts, and strains. To reduce dangers and irritations from these conditions, they follow prescribed safety practices and use safety equipment such as safety shoes and glasses, and respirators.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience:
Ten years (10) of experience in the problem diagnosis, repair and maintenance of a wide variety of light, medium, heavy and/or specialized automotive equipment and other heavy equipment.
Education:
High school Diploma or GED equivalent.
