NOTE: This role is hybrid and requires working in the office (Alexandria, VA) 2 days every other week or remote remote from these US states (VA, DC, MD, PA, NC, FL, GA, NM, IL, OR, WA, WV, MA, SD, MN, OK & AL) . Travel is required (up to 20% of the year) for meetings and events, including travel to WEF’s annual conference, WEFTEC.

An environmental education association in Alexandria, VA is seeking a Membership

Manager to guide the development of organizational membership opportunities. This

position will support the Director, Community Engagement – Membership in building

organizational relationships, maintaining strong organizational member retention,

developing recruitment strategies, and providing exceptional member and customer

support. The ideal candidate will be experienced with organizational membership

strategies, enjoy building professional relationships, possess excellent customer service

skills and high attention to detail, and have an interest in strategic data collection and

analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage organizational membership recruitment and renewal strategies, including invoicing, roster management, and relationship building with organizational stakeholders.
• Serve as the primary liaison for organizational membership programs ensuring stakeholder satisfaction, delivery of contracted benefits, and relationship-building communications.
• Collaborate with interdepartmental stakeholders to ensure the membership value proposition is clearly and consistently communicated through all communication vehicles, including website, social media, and marketing collateral.
• Work with the Membership Team to maintain and support the development of organizational benefits and creatively communicate value to stakeholders.
• Analyze and report on membership data and survey results to track and support strategic planning initiatives.
• Ensure exceptional customer service in response to customer inquiries.
• Maintain accuracy of database (Fonteva) records through detailed SOP adherence and creation and routine cleanup.
• Attend and support the annual conference and other events as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, sales, business or related field.
• 5+ years in an organizational membership role in an association or membership- based organization. Non-profit sponsorship sales experience a plus.
• Experience with data management, member communications, and membership engagement and retention programs.
• Demonstrated knowledge of association management systems. Experience with Fonteva AMS preferred.
• Strategic thinking with strong analytical, attention to detail and project management skills.
• Strong customer service skills with a member-first mindset. Sales experience preferred.
• Ability to work collaboratively in formal teams and informal working groups, as well as Independently.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

This person will work primarily in an office environment using standard office equipment.
