NDDOT Starting Salary: $6,943 / month
In this role, you will lead, plan, and conduct internal and external audits to ensure compliance with professional standards, Federal regulations, and NDDOT policies. This position develops and updates audit programs, participates in agency-wide risk assessments, and oversees complex audit testing and work performed by contractors. The Auditor works collaboratively across the agency to strengthen accountability, improve processes, and provide value-added recommendations that support effective operations and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop audit objectives, scopes, and methodologies. Develop audit budgets and schedules.
Develop and update audit programs and procedures to address emerging risks and promote audit efficiency and consistency.
Perform and lead audit testing and analysis.
Document audit work performed and maintain organized, accurate working papers.
Prepare and present clear, accurate, and constructive audit reports, that communicate findings and conclusions and include actionable recommendations for improvement.
Conduct follow-up audits and monitor the implementation of audit recommendations and corrective actions.
Take initiative to enhance audit processes, promote accountability, and support continuous improvement within the division and agency.
Collaborate with management, staff, and stakeholders to ensure audit quality, accuracy, and a positive working relationship.
Participate in the agency-wide risk assessment and contribute to the development of the annual audit plan.
Represent the Division at meetings and maintain required professional training.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, public administration, statistics, economics, or a related field with coursework in accounting.
Three years of professional auditing experience.
Preference will be given to applicants holding certifications such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or other relevant credentials.
Requires satisfactory completion of the interview process and a verifiable record of satisfactory performance in previous employment.
