As a Software Engineer III , you’ll help design, develop, and optimize cutting-edge software solutions for High Performance Computing (HPC) environments. Your work won’t just be about writing code—it will directly enable intelligence missions, improve performance at scale, and ensure our nation’s systems stay reliable, secure, and ready for tomorrow’s challenges.
Here’s What Your Day-to-Day Might IncludeDesigning, coding, and debugging complex software in Linux-based HPC environments .
Developing automation tools with Bash and Python scripting to streamline operational tasks.
Creating and maintaining software solutions in Python and Rust , ensuring performance and scalability.
Containerizing applications with Docker, PodMan, and containerd to improve portability and efficiency.
Orchestrating deployments and infrastructure with Ansible .
Troubleshooting and debugging issues in live, operational systems.
Leveraging CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Jenkins) and source control (Git) to deliver secure, rapid updates.
Collaborating with mission stakeholders, DevOps teams, and engineers to ensure software solutions align with technical and operational requirements.
Clearance: Top Secret Clearance with Full Scope Polygraph (must be active). We do not have the ability to sponsor clearances.
Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen. We cannot sponsor visas.
Education & Experience:
Master’s degree in Computer Science (or related discipline) with 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, OR
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or related discipline) with 7+ years of experience, OR
9+ years of relevant Software Engineering experience in comparable mission-driven environments.
Proficiency with the Linux CLI .
Strong scripting skills in Bash and Python .
Hands-on experience developing software with Python and Rust in Linux environments.
Familiarity with containerization tools (Docker, PodMan, containerd).
Knowledge of automation frameworks like Ansible.
Troubleshooting and debugging skills for operational system environments.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Jenkins).
Proficiency with Git version control.
Familiarity with Datacenter Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tools such as Netbox.
Experience using observability and analytics platforms like Splunk.
Exposure to Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions such as Keycloak.
Familiarity with secret management tools like HashiCorp Vault.
Experience with Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence).
Working knowledge of Agile, Scrum, or SAFe methodologies .
Compensation Range: $179,000.00 - $237,000.00
*The salary range provided reflects an estimate based on current market trends and may be adjusted based on factors such as the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications. The final offer will be tailored after a thorough evaluation of the candidate’s background and suitability for the role.
