Dump Truck (Tri-Axle) Driver
Thompson Trucking Co, Inc. is currently seeking safe and professional CDL - Class A or B Tri-Axle Dump Truck Drivers to support their Charleston area operations. Requires a Class B CDL or higher. Drivers will be responsible for regionally hauling asphalt and aggregate material loads to various worksites within the local area. Additionally, the driver may be required to operate water and/or fuel truck as needed to support operational demands based the candidate’s appropriate endorsements.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Drive and operate a dump truck for the purposes of hauling and delivering construction related materials used for the building of roads, site development and asphalt production.
• Ability to work weekends and evenings as needed which may require working more than 40 hours but within weekly DOT requirements.
• Work in extreme weather conditions and work environments including hot, cold, dusty, wet, loud noises, etc.
• Keep company vehicle clean and orderly, inform management of any safety concerns or vehicle problems.
• Maintain records.
• Comply with all company policies, procedures and safety requirements.
• Perform any other general duties as directed.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Must possess a valid Class A or B commercial driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record by complying with standards established by company policy.
• MUST have two years minimum of experience operating/driving a commercial vehicle in a construction environment.
• Maintain your DOT medical certification and CDL.
• Must obtain a negative DOT drug screen result prior to hire and maintain throughout term of employment and have a clear FMCSA Clearinghouse required by the DOT.
• Must meet company employment standards with regards to background checks.
• Work environments will vary making it necessary to tolerate weather conditions, such as rain and extreme temperatures. Employees may be exposed to dust, dirt, loud noises, etc.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Ability to stand, crawl or kneel for long periods of time.
• Provide a 10 year MVR for consideration of any driving position.
• Must live in the Charleston area. (typically within a 50 miles radius)
• Have a valid SC CDL

Preferred Skills

• Tank and/or Hazmat Endorsements are preferred but not required.
• Five years of experience driving a dump truck in a construction environment preferred.
• High school diploma/GED preferred.

Candidates are required to provide a current (printed within 30 days) 10-year MVR at time of application.
