The Institute hosts more than 200 events each year, with our annual flagship event, Global Conference, bringing together 4,500+ participants from around the world, featuring more than 900+ speakers throughout 200+ sessions over the course of the event. About the Position As the Director of Safety and Security, you will play a critical leadership role in fostering a culture of safety, vigilance, and preparedness across our campus. Reporting to the Executive Director of Hospitality, you will be responsible for ensuring the security and well-being of our visitors, guests, team members, and property. This role encompasses oversight of all safety and security functions, including training, emergency response planning, loss prevention, compliance, and coordination with law enforcement. Responsibilities Develop and implement comprehensive safety and security plans for the building, leading all related operations including emergency preparedness, workplace safety initiatives, OSHA compliance, fire and life safety protocols, evacuation plans and adherence to campus and regulatory standards. Administer the effective patrolling of both interior and exterior campus areas to identify and mitigate safety and security risks. Oversee after-hours access to secured areas, ensuring proper authorization, documentation, and monitoring. Lead investigations involving accidents, thefts, property loss, or unlawful activity. Manage responses to emergency situations, including safety hazards, fires, medical incidents, and threats to life or property. Serve as the primary liaison with federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies. Ensure accurate and timely completion of all required incident reports and departmental documentation. Recruit, train, and lead the security team, promoting professional development, accountability, and a culture of excellence. Monitor team member performance, providing coaching, counseling, evaluations, recognition, and scheduling support. Oversee access control systems and maintain comprehensive shift logs and records. Manage the issuance and safekeeping of keys, radios, and security equipment in accordance with campus protocols. Qualifications Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in safety and security leadership preferably in luxury hospitality (hotels, resorts) or high-profile institutions, or similarly guests’ service driven environments. Proven expertise in crisis management and emergency response, with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams. Experience managing third-party security vendors and service contracts. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize effectively, and operate under pressure. Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8 hours per shift). Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with guests, colleagues, and senior leadership. Experience in KASTLE control system is a plus Working Conditions & Travel Requirements This position will work in a professional office environment five days a week, with Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed for event execution.
