Cost Accountant

We are a largely privately-owned company in the consumer products industry. We have our products at stores nationwide and growing! We are looking to add an on-site Cost Accountant to our team, who will report to the CFO and Controller out of our South Holland, IL office. 

Key Reponsibilities

• Create variance cost analysis to support initiatives, identify trends, risks, and areas of improvement
• Manage and maintain standard cost system
• Create KPIs, analyze product margins and costs, and implement cost management systems 
• Monitor item master for cost fluctuations resulting from implemented bill of materials (BOMs) updates
• Analyze and extract data to predict variances, metrics, and assess business operations - cost variance, price variance, labor analysis, material variance, and more 
• Maintain standard costs, manage inventory valuation, review work-in-process (WIP) and resolve any discrepancies
• Create forecasts, budgets, financial reports for internal teams
• Review cycle count adjustments and any discrepancies, by verifying and analyzing account information ensuring inventory discrepancies are addressed and updated in the system 
• Perform other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or similar field
• 3-5+ years of professional cost accounting experience
• Understanding of standard cost system, inventory valuation, product costing, tracking production costs, budgets, forecasts, physical inventory counts, and more 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
• Outstanding analytical, organizational and project management skills
• Experience with ensuring accuracy and compliance of account entries, inventory management, handling discrepancies, reconciliations, financial documents, and more 
• Proficient in Excel or financial software (Microsoft Dynamics 365, SAP, Oracle, Netsuite, or similar) 

Nice to Have: 

• Experience within the manufacturing, consumer products, consumer goods, supply chain, logistics, or similar industry
