Job Title: 5-Axis CNC Machinist – Night Shift

DETAILS: Direct Hire

Location: Branford, CT – Onsite

Pay Rate: $ depending on experience

Training/Shift: New hires will train on first shift, then transition to third shift with a 10% shift differential.

Hours:

• Night Shift: Monday – Friday, 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM (Overtime paid at 1.5x for hours worked over 40/week)

SUMMARY / OBJECTIVE:

We are seeking experienced CNC Machinists to join our Machine Shop team in Branford, CT. This role is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining 5-Axis CNC milling machines to produce precision parts according to technical drawings, engineering specifications, and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of machining principles, experience with multiple materials, and the ability to work independently to achieve production goals while ensuring quality and safety compliance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Set up, operate, and troubleshoot 5-Axis CNC milling machines.
• Machine precision quality parts from materials such as SS304, 316L, aluminum, and a variety of plastics.
• Read and interpret prints (ISO – First Angle Projection, metric system).
• Perform own setups and run production parts to meet requirements.
• Review Production Status Reports and complete orders as scheduled.
• Record job activity in ERP system (scanning bar code).
• Follow shop’s pre-inspection checklist prior to starting each job.
• Inspect completed work for conformance to specifications using precision measuring tools including micrometers, calipers, gauges, and fixtures.
• Perform light preventative maintenance to maintain machine performance and prevent downtime.
• Comply with all safety rules, wear proper PPE, and follow company policies.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment in compliance with internal, customer, and regulatory standards.
• Promote customer focus and uphold quality standards.

COMPETENCIES:

• Quick learner with the ability to edit programs and controls.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Highly dependable with an excellent attendance record.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 3–5 years of proven CNC machining experience, specifically with milling machines.
• Experience with cutting tools, speeds, and feeds, plus program editing.
• Familiarity with the metric system and ability to read technical prints.
• Experience with turning lathes is a plus.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma from a vocational technical school, completion of an apprenticeship program, or equivalent training.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

• Familiarity with G & M codes or conversational controls is a plus.
