Overview: Certified Medical Assistant - Entry-Level | New Grads Welcome!

Seeking a motivated and compassionate Medical Assistant! In this role, you'll work closely with providers to deliver excellent patient care in a fast-paced outpatient setting. You'll gain valuable experience in both clinical and administrative duties, while building relationships with patients and contributing to a positive team atmosphere.

Compensation :17-19/hr (weekly pay)

Schedule: Monday-Friday: 8:30am - 4:30pm

Primary Weekly/Monthly Responsibilities:
  • Ensure all exam rooms are clean, properly stocked, and maintained in accordance with infection control protocols.
  • Support the Clinical Manager with special clinical projects as needed, including Electronic Health Record (EHR) initiatives and report generation.
Primary Daily/Weekly Responsibilities:
Provider and Schedule Support
  • Maintain daily communication with primary providers to assist with office and rounding schedules.
  • Schedule and reschedule patient appointments as needed due to changes in provider availability.
  • Monitor and stay informed of providers' future schedules and vacations, and proactively communicate changes to the business office, front desk, and NP schedulers.
Pre-Visit and EHR Preparation
  • Prepare Electronic Health Records (EHR) for upcoming appointments:
  • Contact patients to confirm lab work is completed and documented in the EHR via interface or manual entry.
  • Request and print relevant records from hospitals, physician offices, imaging facilities, and specialists.
Clinical Communication
  • Relay patient inquiries from voicemails and patient portals to providers, seeking clinical guidance as needed.
  • Collaborate with the NP scheduler and providers to prioritize patient scheduling based on clinical necessity.
Results and Orders Management
  • Review all incoming labs, reports, and order notifications in the EHR:
    • Identify and escalate critical or high-value results for immediate action.
    • Ensure daily follow-up and proper provider review of all incoming results.
  • Manually chart labs not received through the interface.
  • Create lab requisitions and procedure orders as needed.
  • Retrieve and print records from hospital portals.
Diagnostics and Follow-Up
  • Schedule imaging tests (CT, MRI, ultrasound), obtain prior authorizations, and ensure timely receipt of results.
  • Order and monitor Aranesp/Procrit per protocol.
  • Admit patients to the hospital as needed.
  • Initiate dialysis referrals and referrals to other providers as appropriate.
Communication and Phone Management
  • Record and update daily voicemail greetings with information on how patient inquiries will be addressed.
  • Document all patient phone conversations in the EHR.
  • Answer incoming calls, transfer and park calls appropriately.
Appointment Management
  • Schedule appointments, create recalls, and update patient demographics in Allscripts PM.
  • Cancel or reschedule appointments and monitor schedules for accuracy.
  • Manage provider overbooks and add-on appointments.
Prescription Management
  • Process prescription refills through eScribe.
  • Send new prescriptions electronically as needed

Qualifications :

  • Medical Assistant Certification
  • CPR/BLS
  • Open to new grads
