Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for performing a variety of back-office operational duties and assisting customers by phone, email, and occasionally in person, with the bank’s products and services. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, knowledgeable about banking processes, motivated, and possesses a warm, friendly, and professional demeanor.
The following list is intended to outline the primary duties and responsibilities of this position but is not all-inclusive. The Bookkeeper may not be required to perform every duty listed and may be assigned additional responsibilities as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Perform Exception Item Processing, including stop payments, holds, and instruction reviews.
• Review and reconcile a variety of operational reports.
• Complete Large Item Review in accordance with internal policies and procedures.
• Provide backup support in other departmental areas as needed, including but not limited to Wire Transfers, Daily
Processing, Cash Management, Positive Pay, Deposit Item Returns, and Mobile/Merchant Deposit.
• Deliver exceptional customer service by assisting customers and employees both by phone and in person.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of the bank’s products and services and be able to clearly explain and assist customers with:
o Online and Mobile Banking
o Text Banking
o Bill Pay
o Cash Management Tools
o Stop Payments, Check Fraud Claims, and Unauthorized ACHs
o Voice Access Telephone Banking
o Mobile and Merchant Deposit Products
Performance Requirements / Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Strong customer service and problem-resolution skills.
• Self-motivated with the ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
• Persistent and resourceful approach to problem-solving with a focus on customer service.
• Team-oriented and willing to assist others across departments as needed.
• Knowledge of banking practices and regulations is preferred.
• Basic computer proficiency required; experience with banking software is a plus.
• Competency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Accurate typing and data entry skills.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Physical Demands
This position is primarily sedentary; however, some filing and light physical activity are required. The role may involve lifting files, opening filing cabinets, etc.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time hourly position, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with rotating Friday closings until 6:30 p.m.
