Job Description

Job Title: Assistant Project Manager

Overview:

A well-established specialty contractor is looking for an Assistant Project Manager to support ongoing commercial construction projects across the Mid-Atlantic. This is a great opportunity for someone with a few years of industry experience to step into a high-impact role with structured mentorship and long-term growth potential. You’ll be paired with a Senior Project Manager and work on high-visibility projects ranging from commercial renovations to large-scale new builds.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage project documentation from pre-construction through closeout
  • Prepare and submit RFIs, submittals, and change orders
  • Monitor and communicate progress updates to stakeholders and internal teams
  • Track project costs, budget adherence, and forecasting
  • Evaluate design changes for scope and budget impact
  • Utilize construction software for plan management and documentation
  • Assist in reviewing shop drawings and project specifications
  • Attend project meetings and provide field support as needed

Qualifications:

  • 2–5 years of commercial construction experience, ideally with a subcontractor or specialty trades firm
  • Solid knowledge of construction processes and documentation, including submittals, RFIs, and change orders
  • Familiarity with roofing, waterproofing, envelope work, or related scopes is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; technical or engineering degree preferred
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills
